ERETRIA – LOST CITY

Today’s Eretria is a tourist center of the island of Evia. Although the town is more like a resort village, it plays a big role in the tourist life of the island. Eretria is home to the largest and most important archaeological sites on the island, and there are many hectares of archaeological excavations around this town. Once upon a time this city was one of the most famous cities among merchants.
Eretria is the second most important city on the island of Evia, both in ancient times and now. This city has even been involved in the Trojan War, and it can be proven to you by Eretria’s famous “Mosaic House”. Eretria is unimaginable without his Acropolis and the Artemis Temple. Eretria can be freely called a huge lost city with an unforgettable and significant history.

WHAT YOU WILL SEE IN THE TOUR:
We will visit the open-air archaeological museum in Eretria, where you will discover: the famous Amphitheater, the Caesar’s Sebastian, the Roman Baths, the God of Ari, the Temple of God of Dionis, the Gymnasium of the Archaic Age, the cult of Goddess Demetra, the tombs of Macedonian and the ruins of the old town. You’ll hear history, myths, and facts about this legendary city that was even mentioned in “Iliad”. We will visit the “Mosaic House”, where you will see a thousand-year-old mosaic telling us the true stories that are telling us today, and still being completely deciphered. And be sure, we will go on the top of Acropolis to meet the deities.
We will end the tour on the streets of Eretria and the seaside. You will be informed about where to eat, shop, drink coffee, ATMs, pharmacies and more.
Dinner – in an authentic Greek-style tavern, where the most delicious meat is produced in Greece and not only…!

During the excursion, we walk a lot and actively climb the mountain on a very rocky road. Take care of comfortable and easy footwear (recommended sportswear) and clothing, and be sure to have at least half a liter of water with you.
The tour takes about 3 hours.
The tour takes place on the second half of the day to keep enjoying the beautiful sunset from the Acropolis of Eretria.
