SEYCHELLES OF GREECE… LIHADONISIA!

Just a few hours from Athens, the verdant islands with the blue waters and golden lacy beaches, transfer you to a hidden paradise that has nothing to be jealous from the exotic islands.

Located in northwest Evia and specifically across from Kamena Vourla between Maliakos and North Evian Gulf. The Lihades or Lihadonisia is a cluster of seven small islands and were created by volcanic energy, while a large part of them sunk by the earthquake in 426 BC ….

Their name is legendary and took it by the servant of Hercules, the Lichas ….
Legend says that Hercules killed the centaur Nessos, who tried to, steal his wife Deianeira. While Nessos was dying by the poisoned arrows that Hercules had thrown to him, he confided in Deianeira that her husband was not loved her anymore and in order to win back his love, she had to give him to wear a tunic, after she first dive it into the blood of the dead Centaur.

Deianeira, who did not know that the blood of Nessus was poisoned by arrows, sent the tunic to Hercules with his servant Lichas. When Hercules wore the tunic, it was stuck on him. The pain that was caused to him was so horrible that went mad and grabbed his servant and threw him in the sea. The pieces of him fell around Kinaio cape, where Neptune transformed them on islets, known today as Lihadonisia ….

In 1928 the population of the islands reached the 70 people, while from the 60s and post, the settlement was abandoned. Today are a protected archaeological site.
The largest island is the Round and Monolia little smaller Little Round, Steno, Vayia and some even smaller called Pontikonisia.
Around the islands turquoise waters surrounding the islands are relatively warm and shallow, the shore is lined with golden sand. Organized beach you will find on the Monolia island.

In the southern part of the island preserved ramshackle some of the houses of the inhabitants of the volcanic island, before it was declared as archaeological site. In the Stroggili, which dominates on it a lighthouse, are scattered ruins of the Monastery of the 12th century. AD, who lived there as a monk Saint Gregory Myrovlitis. Also, there preserved ruins of a Roman aqueduct.

A rare and very beautiful show is the presence of a graceful family of four Monachus – Monachus seals, which escaped from the Marine Park of Alonissos and decided to settle in Lihadonisia. Several times during the day appearing and playing with the people and take poses for photographic lenses.

In all this beauty helps even the seabed of the region, since it is extremely rich as there are several shipwrecks that attract divers. Indeed, a sinking in the west, between a series of reefs, is perceived without diving equipment, since it is located at a depth of only 6 meters.
For those who like to spend their day more proactively, there is a kayak or water bicycle rent on the beach.

Lihadonisia island taverns offers various Greek dishes for hungry ones.  Various beach cafes offer alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails. Travel guide will always help you communicate, offer advice and solve various issues.

PLACES VISITED IN COURSE OF EXCURSION
North Euboea island, seven Lihadonisia islands.
During the excursion we’ll travel about 400 km by car. Duration of excursion is about 12 hour, maybe more, including 4 hours of swimming and sunbaths. You’ll be traveling with travel guide’s vehicle.
Make sure you wear light and comfortable shoes and clothes. Please have towels, swimwear, sunscreen cream, headwear, glasses and especially cameras.
Excursion information will be provided in Lithuanian, Russian and English languages.

DEPARTURE/ARRIVAL, PLACE AND TIME OF EXCURSION

Participants of excursion must gather at the entrance to the hotel on agreed time.  After excursion they will be transported back to the hotel.
This excursion only for participants who lives in Euboea island.
Departure at 8.00 am.
